What is the Vepo Envirotrax® System?
The Envirotrax® system is a complete backflow prevention assembly testing, backflow tracking and backflow reporting system offered to any city or water purveyor at NO CHARGE. All fees are paid by the Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT). The Envirotrax® system provides the online tools necessary to quickly and easily enter backflow test and maintenance reports and to perform ongoing periodic testing of the assemblies at NO CHARGE to the city or water purveyor. The Envirotrax® system includes online CSI Management to provide a complete Cross-Connection Control Program.

The Envirotrax® system is available to insure the water supply is protected with proper backflow assembly testing. The system is approved for the acceptance of backflow test and maintenance reports by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Why is a system like this needed?

Backflow prevention assemblies are mechanical devices that are subject to failure. Should an assembly fail, the potable water supply is in jeopardy of being contaminated. In virtually every major code or standard, it is recommended that all backflow prevention assemblies be tested at least annually.

    • on responding to a reported backflow incident.

    • Plumbing codes require annual testing. Some jurisdictions are requiring periodic testing every 2-3 years. TCEQ strongly recommends following adopted plumbing codes and a minimum of periodic testing of all residential irrigation backflow preventers, due to control valves not withstanding back-pressure.

How does it work?

It's simple. A property owner hires a registered Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) to test their backflow prevention assembly. The BPAT registers in the Envirotrax® system and logs into their password protected account to record the backflow assembly test results. Through a password protected administration account, the water purveyor can search all backflow assembly test reports within their jurisdiction by property address, mailing address, serial number, hazard type, assembly type, BPAT company name, BPAT license number, BPAT contractor name, and a date range. Backflow assembly test reports may be viewed online or sent to an external printer or PDF file.

The System Reports section displays the number of backflow test reports entered per year. It displays the percentage of assemblies by hazard type, assembly type, and whether they are commercial or residential assemblies.

Should a BPAT let their license, insurance, or test gauge certification expire, the online system will automatically deactivate their account preventing them from submitting any further test reports until the information is updated and verified by Vepo personnel.

The Envirotrax® system will generate up to three letters to existing property owners in advance to inform them of an upcoming backflow assembly test requirement. Vepo will handle everything associated with the distribution of the letters from printing to mailing.

Vepo does even more behind the scene. Vepo validates any out of service requests and using the sophisticated Backflow Validation, Vepo checks all assemblies in which a change appears from the previous backflow test to the current backflow test. Changes include inconsistent assembly information such as a change in the assembly type, make, model, size or serial number. The validation will display all assemblies in which the location has moved from one address to another. Other changes include inconsistent property address or mailing address information. These validations allow Vepo and the water purveyor to ensure that the assembly test information remains consistent and accurate.

It's all handled FREE OF CHARGE to any water purveyor. With this system, a water purveyor can now manage and easily track backflow assemblies within their cross-connection control program with no extra manpower or investment.
